Marta was born in Lidice to Vaclav and Frantiska Hronik. She lived with her parents and 6 siblings. She was sent with her mother, 3 sisters, and younger brother to the school in Kladno on June 10, 1942 with the other women and children of Lidice. On the same day her father and 2 older brothers were shot at Horak farm in Lidice. On June 13, 1942 she, 2 sisters, and younger brother were separated from their mother and older sister.
